In a deck of cards, how many jacks are there?

Answer: There are around four Jacks in a standard 52-card deck.  This is because a deck of cards has four suits in total: spades, diamonds, hearts, and clubs.  All of the value cards, from Ace to King, are dealt to each suit.  This means that there is one Jack for every suit. Consequently, there are a total of 4 Jacks because there are 4 suits and 1 Jack in each suit. There are two red Jacks because there are two red suits—Hearts and Diamonds.  The Knave was the previous name for the Jack card in English history.
