You need to include all aspects of the respiratory assessment not just the physical assessment and your discussion needs to integrate quality peer reviewed literature (journal articles).
- Explain the signs and symptoms reported in the case study below outlining the underlying pathophysiology of Asthma. Your discussion should cover all signs and symptoms mentioned below in the case study as well as the abnormal respiratory assessment findings outlined in the question above (Q1).
- Critically discuss the nursing management of a pediatric child with Acute Asthma. This question requires you to not only know and understand the topic but to be able to apply by analyses and evaluating the information presented. So in you discussion outline your priorities of care for this patient and the rationale (supported by literature), include all the relevant clinical information from the case study (make sure this focuses on the abnormal respiratory assessment finding, abnormal observations etc.), and consider your scope of practice as a 2nd year nursing student. Make sure you are clear what needs to be your priorities in order of importance (for example if the patient had an obstructed airway you wouldn’t decide to document the assessment findings in the progress notes first before managing the airway).
